Another movie for Wendy!
TORONTO (CP) - A new TV movie adapted from Margaret Atwood's novel The Robber Bride has started filming in the city.
Mary-Louise Parker - who stars in the Showtime television series Weeds - stars as journalist and seductress Zenia
Arden.
The film revolves around Arden's disappearance and the ensuing investigation that reveals her three closest friends all
have reasons to want her dead.
Arden's friends are played by Wendy Crewson (24) as Roz; Amanda Root (Jane Eyre) as Tony and Susan Lynch (Waking Ned
Devine) as Charis.
The film also stars Shawn Doyle (Eight Days to Live) and Greg Bryk (A History of Violence).
Parker won a 2006 Golden Globe award for her role on Weeds.
Prior to that, she took home both a Golden Globe and Emmy for her role in the acclaimed 2003 miniseries Angels in America.
The Robber Bride will wrap up filming in early September and will be shown in Canada on CBC, and in the U.S. on Oxygen.

Can you hear me now? In the U.S., celebrity and politics go together like Kevin Costner and bad
reviews. Here in Canada, though, big-name artists complain but they almost never campaign.

Helen Shaver is currently directing THE MAN WHO LOST HIMSELF, a movie that tells the true story of Terry Evanshen,
a former Canadian Football League star and Hall-of-Famer who in 1988, had his life ripped from him after a van ran a red light

Anatomy of a student film
It's not exactly on the same scale as Mickey and Judy's, hey let's go to the barn and put on a show. But Toronto's Anthony
Green, 21, a third-year film student at NYU has pulled off a coup by shooting Pigeon, a student short starring
national treasure Wendy Crewson and Academy Award nominee Michael Lerner (Barton Fink) on a shoestring
of under $25,000 Canadian.

Wendy Crewson tells me she was going to send flowers this week
to CBC news announcer Ian Hanomansing in Vancouver. And it's not a court-and-spark thing. No, the co-star of 24 just
wants to make amends, of sorts, for her surprise on-camera "assault" on Hanomansing's lips at the Gemini ceremonies in Toronto.
Crewson thinks she may have come across a bit like Gloria Swanson's Norma Desmond in actually doing what perhaps thousands
of Canadian females have only dreamed of doing.
